This page gives you access to the ERS Prototype 5.

Caveats:

What's new in this version:

How to view this version:

We're presenting two different paths through the effort reporting system in this prototype. Think of them as two different perspectives for two very different kinds of users.

  • The Department Administrator
Irv Reizes is a departmental supervisor who reviews the effort reports for all the researchers working in his department. His initial path into the system is through the Search page which allows him to select from a set of Report Lists that he has previously saved or set up a new report list.
  • The Individual Contributor
Mary Stern is research assistant who certifies only her own reports. Her entry into the system is a list of all her open reports.

What you can click on: (what works - by screen)

Sign-in Page:

  • You must enter something in the username and password field, (it doesn't matter what you type) and click Sign In.
  • If you don't enter anything before you click Sign In, you will see some on screen remediation saying that we didn't recognize your username or password.

Initial Search Page (2nd screen in the Administrator path):

  • Predefined Search List Dropdown present different saved searches.
  • Search criteria Tabs and Radio Buttons display different search criteria.
  • Edit Saved Report Lists button links to the Saved Report List page.
  • Display This Report List and Display Report List buttons go to the Report List page, however the Report List does not reflect your selections.
  • Save and Display List button prompts you to save your changes by creating a named report list, but nothing is saved and the resulting report list does not reflect your selections.

Report List (2nd screen in the Individual Contributor path):

  • There is only one report attached to each scenario, so it doesn't matter which report you click on.
  • Log Out, Export List, Send List, Print List, and Help don't do anything.
  • Changing the Report List dropdown dims and highlights the Edit button as appropriate but doesn't actually change the data reflected in the list.
  • Edit… takes you to the Create Report List page.
  • Manage Lists… takes you to the Report Lists List page.
  • Create New… takes you to the Create Report List page.
  • Show Certified Reports checkbox hides and shows certified reports.
  • All and Current: Fall Qtr. '04 radio buttons filter the list accordingly.
  • Select period does not work.
  • Selecting Current: Fall Qtr. '04 displays a message informing the user that other periods contain open reports. (This message shows even if there are no open reports in other periods.)
  • The report list navigation buttons do not work.

Effort Report:

  • Export Report, Send Report, Print Report, and Help do not work.
  • The History and Comments Log tabs do not work.
  • Changing the values in the type-in fields updates the fields and the calculation.
  • When calculations are out of balance the report gives feedback by highlighting the out of balance values and dimming Certify Effort Report button
  • Add Additional Sponsored Project pops open another window displaying the interface for browsing and selecting a project.
  • Report requires multiple certifications asks you if you really want to make that change to report and then displays the alternate multi-certification report interface.
  • The Multi-line certification view allows you to certify each line individually.
  • Report allows for negative cost sharing on Other Sponsored Projects displays a new negative report list under Other Sponsored Projects (Doesn't work if displaying multi-line certification. They'd both be available at the same time in the real application.)
  • The drill down buttons all pop-up read-only drill down information (which may or may not reflect data that matches up with the current report.)
  • Cancel cancels and takes you back the Report List.
  • Save doesn't save.
  • Certify takes you to a slightly outdated version of what a certified report would look like with hard-coded, static data that does not reflect the report you just viewed or you changes.

Drill-down pages :

  • Export, E-mail, and Print don't do anything, but Close does close the window.
  • The drill down data may not always match the Report.

The case scenarios that we previously presented are still available in prototype version 4.
